So for some context, I am a Business Administration major and a recent convert to Linux (a few months). Although I have been around computers since I was 4 or 5 (23 years ago) and has built my own PC, I was never as interested in the software side until I became interested in Linux and started using and learning about it almost everyday. It made me interested in programming and processes "under the hood". I have yet to choose a minor and I was thinking about going with Computer Science. I am also interested in going for my Master's in one of these two fields.
I am not interested in making a butt-ton of money. Sure, I want to make a decent and comfortable living but I would rather do good in the world than make six figures. I see Linux and personal privacy/security and open source (FOSS) as being a way to make the world better.
With this degree, can I contribute in a significant way to Linux and FOSS and how would be the best way?
I understand that minoring in Computer Science is not a whole lot to get my foot in the door but going for my Mastering in CS may help a lot. I want to stick with the Business Administration major for my Bachelor's since I do really enjoy it (mostly the backend operations and supply chain side).
