What’s a good Linux distro that runs off a flash drive and I can use to reformat and erase all partitions from my main boot drive.

I’m doing this for a non tech savvy friend who had a power surge while Windows was updating so he windows is corrupted his machine won’t boot. I’m gonna reformat the main partition and combine it with the EFI and recovery partition.
