According to a new report out of Korea, Samsung Display is now successfully mass-producing the advanced panels. The display maker is hitting a ninety percent success rate on its generation 8.6 production lines. Industry insiders call this a golden yield. This essentially means the factory is running smoothly enough to pump out millions of units without wasting expensive materials.



Some specific steps in the factory are even reaching a ninety-five percent success rate. This high output level gives the screen supplier the green light to start shipping the finished units out for final laptop assembly very soon.

Building an OLED panel for a fourteen or sixteen-inch laptop is no easy task. The main problem was dealing with the complex twin-stack technology required for these larger screens. Making this tech work on a massive scale caused early delays that had buyers worried about a pushed back release date.
