Apple Releases iOS 26.5.2 Early to Stop New AI Hacking Tools

Apple just rolled out a new software update for its devices a lot sooner than anyone expected. The company officially released iOS 26.5.2 to the public today to fix several major security issues. Instead of waiting for the next big software cycle, Apple pushed these fixes out early because of growing concerns about artificial intelligence helping bad actors create new hacking tools much faster.



The update patches over two dozen security flaws right now



This patch includes more than 25 specific security fixes for your phone. A large number of these fixes deal directly with WebKit, which is the engine that powers the Safari web browser. Flaws in web browsers are especially important to fix quickly because they affect almost everyone who uses the internet.



In the past, Apple usually waited to bundle these types of patches into major future releases. In fact, many of these fixes were already being tested by software developers using the iOS 26.6 beta 3 version. But times have changed. The company told reporters that AI makes it too easy for attackers to find and use these vulnerabilities quickly. Because of that risk, its engineering team decided it needed to shrink the waiting period between finding a problem and sending the fix to your device.



The company is also updating tablets and computers today



The technology giant did not just focus on phones. It also released identical security protections for other devices in its lineup. For tablet owners, the security protections originally found in the iPadOS 26.6 beta 3 test version are available to download right now.



Computer users get the exact same treatment. The specific bug fixes originally seen in the macOS Tahoe 26.6 beta 3 build are now public inside the macOS 26.5.2 update. If you use any of these devices, you should head into your system settings and download the new software as soon as possible.



The company has not seen evidence that anyone is actively using these flaws to attack users yet, but updating early is the best way to stay safe online.
