Threads Upgrades Live Chats With New Tools And Broadens Host Access

Threads is improving its real-time conversation features by rolling out several major updates to its Live Chats. The social media app now allows more people to start their own chat sessions while adding helpful tools like automatic translation and better moderation options. These changes aim to make group discussions much easier to manage.



Whether you use an Android or an iPhone, these new additions will change how you connect with others during big live events.



More users gain the ability to host and manage group discussions



When Live Chats first launched earlier this year, only a small handful of creators could actually start a session. Now, Threads is opening the doors to all Community Champions. This means users who are highly active and have strong community engagement can finally create and run their own public chats.



Running a live conversation with up to 150 active participants takes a lot of effort. To help with this, the platform now lets a creator invite up to three co-hosts. These co-hosts can jump in and keep the conversation moving smoothly. Hosts also received a big upgrade to their moderation powers. They can long-press to instantly delete unwanted messages for everyone in the chat, keeping the space safe and on track.



Translation support breaks language barriers for a global live chat audience



A highly requested addition is native translation support inside Live Chats. When people from all over the world tune in to talk about a major event, language differences can easily get in the way. With this new tool, participants can quickly translate messages. This makes it much simpler to follow along and share thoughts regardless of where you live.



The timing makes a lot of sense since massive global events like the World Cup bring in highly diverse crowds. Threads is also testing ways to make host messages stand out visually, so important updates do not get lost in a fast-moving chat.



While you can easily jump into these chats on any mobile device made by Apple or other brands, the company says desktop support and pinned messages are coming next. These updates show its commitment to owning the real-time social space.
