iOS 27 Beta Reveals Possible AirPods Ultra or Smart Glasses Feature

The second iOS 27 developer beta appears to hint at a new Apple wearable product, with code pointing to a mystery device that can process images from cameras placed on both sides of a user’s head. The finding has started fresh discussion around Apple’s rumored AirPods Ultra and smart glasses, as both products are expected to use cameras for Visual Intelligence features.

App designer and developer Sam Henri Gold found code that mentions a product codenamed B790, along with a system prompt that explains how Visual Intelligence should work on the device. The code refers to “two images from cameras on either side of the user’s head,” which suggests Apple is testing a wearable device that sees what the user sees.



iOS 27 Beta Points to Camera-Based Wearables



The code does not confirm the final product name, but it lines up with earlier rumors about camera-equipped AirPods and Apple smart glasses. AirPods Pro 3 reportedly used the codename B788, while Apple’s smart glasses have reportedly been linked to the codename N50, which makes B790 harder to place with certainty.



The system prompt also mentions landmarks, text, and known objects as examples for Visual Intelligence. In simple terms, a user could look at a plant, a coffee mug, or the Eiffel Tower, and Siri would give useful information based on what the cameras detect.



Visual Intelligence already works on newer iPhones, and iOS 27 adds a new Siri mode inside the Camera app. This beta code suggests Apple wants to move that same idea beyond the iPhone and into wearables.



Both AirPods Ultra and Apple smart glasses are currently planned for late 2027, so this iOS 27 beta finding adds another sign that Apple is actively building camera-based wearable products.
