Twitter political troll-chains investigation

Hello dear friends, I am sorry if this is not the right place but I need your help on an interesting problem. In Twitter at our local language, there are some political troll-bots that follow this plan:

0) Start a fresh-new twitter account 1) Post generic stuff that everyone will like (like cat videos) 2) Follow everyone they come across (following counts are 10k+) 3) Wait for people to follow back 4) After getting some x number of followers, they drop a controversial political tweet at once to shape people's opinions

Do you have some sort of tool to investigate this kind of behaviour? I want to investigate the exact chain, like when the campaigns are started, do these accounts have something in common etc etc.

I am an infosec professional, I have access to several infosec tools but Twitter is something new for me. Let's brainstorm! Thanks for reading.
