Thanks in advance for reading this, I will be very specific, be forewarned. You must have already installed under Linux what you recommend here, speculation is not helpful.
I need 5GHz USB adapters that will be automatically detected and installed by every current Linux release with no further effort. It should have real dual antennas, not just traces on the circuit board. Ndiswrapper is not helpful. Building drivers is not helpful. I can do all that - my use case cannot. This is for long term, low maintenance use. Doing remote upgrades (like Ubuntu 18.04 to 20.04 later) that can break networking is not acceptable.
It MUST be USB. This is not for a desktop PC, USB is the only option. It will be at (near) the focal point of surplus meters-wide dishes.
If a device is more difficult to install under Linux than it is under Windows, it will not do. It MUST, INSTANTLY, just work.
Now, the reason I am asking this here, in such a specific way, is that I have not found anything that meets my exact needs. Can you help?
If the device I require does not exist, all the systems will use Windows instead of Linux.
Don't let that happen.
