[xpost to linuxquestions] My city doesn't have a LUG. I'm thinking about setting one up but I'm not really sure what to do after creating a meetup.com page (where to host it, what to do, how to get speakers or resources, etc.)

I'm in a big city with a couple of large Uni's and a decent engineering and technical scene (nothing massive, but there are well attended, popular meetups for python, node, etc.) We had a Linux Meetup.com group for a minute, but it died due to a lack of effort from the organizers, and there doesn't seem to be any other online LUG presence. So I figured I'd take up the mantle and start one, but I'm not really sure what to do outside of creating the meetup.com group.

What makes a good LUG event? What are good resources for running a LUG? Are there any orgs or contacts I could reach out to for help?
