Freezing and blinking caps lock LED

Just this week I imaged my work PC with Oracle Linux 7.5 (RHEL) and intend to use it for my daily driver at work. I develop in Python and was sick of the tools and work around I had to do in Windows.

My question is my laptop has been freezing after a longer period of use time and starts flashing the caps lock key's led. Sometimes the system itself is responsive to mouse input but programs and Gnome are unresponsive, leading me to force restart. I've read online this could be a hardware issue? I was wondering if those of you more experienced with Linux would agree or maybe think it's something different? I appreciate any help I can get.
