Open source powers the entire AI software stack.

In his opening keynote at Open Source Summit Korea 2026, Linux Foundation CEO Jim Zemlin explored how open technologies are transforming every layer:

▪️ Agents: MCP, A2A, x402, AGENTS.md and goose are creating an open foundation for agentic AI.
▪️Models: Open-weight models are making intelligence more affordable while approaching performance parity on key tasks.
▪️Inference: Frameworks including vLLM, SGLang, Ray, llm-d and AIBrix are accelerating execution and continually reducing costs.
▪️Training: PyTorch, DeepSpeed, Ray, Kubeflow and TorchTitan underpin much of today’s model ecosystem.
▪️Infrastructure: Linux, Kubernetes, containerd and Volcano provide the open backbone of the cloud.

When open technology advances this quickly, closed ecosystems struggle to keep pace.
