Artemis II marked the first astronaut journey to the Moon in over 50 years—a 10-day test flight that carried NASA’s Reid Wiseman, Victor Glover, Christina Koch, and CSA (Canadian Space Agency) astronaut Jeremy Hansen 252,756 miles from Earth before splashing down off the coast of San Diego.
During these 10 days, we laughed, we cried, and we pushed the boundaries of what’s possible, setting the stage for future innovation and exploration—and we’re just getting started.
This endeavor tested Orion’s life support, navigation, and deep space systems and set the stage for future Artemis missions. Under Artemis, NASA will send astronauts on increasingly difficult missions to explore more of the Moon for scientific discovery, economic benefits, and to build on our foundation for the first crewed missions to Mars.
