There's plenty of mobility that could have been: from the large infrastructure that fell into disuse to the small things left by the wayside. From the mobility that went out with a bang to the bicycle that's slowly rusting at the train station. We'll take you on a picture tour of all the big and small things that could have moved people through space and time, but in our reality do not.
This talk will take you on an illustrated tour through various kinds of mobilities that could have been: From modes that were killed of largely by a few tragic events, like Zeppelins and faster than sound air travel, to the one's that were just forgotten by the wayside like a rusty old bike in a canal; from the large infrastructure projects that were never fully utilised because diesel was too cheap, to the ones that never made any sense to begin with; from the ginormous border fence, to the small barriers that stop us from crossing the road in the way we would like.
Inspired by urban geographies of waste, this tour is meant to make you think about how we could have moved through the world, how we could have moved through the boundaries of space and time.
Note some of these categories might include images or moving images of transportation disasters (no gore)
