Google Cloud Tech: Stop building voice AI like an API call

A real-time voice agent isn't a request and response. Build voice AI like a normal API call — send, wait, get an answer — and you'll fight it the whole way.

A live agent never really stops. One loop is streaming your audio in. Another loop is streaming the model's audio back. Both are happening at the same time, and neither one can wait for the other.

That's why Google ADK gives you a LiveRequestQueue. Think of it as a conveyor belt: your app keeps putting audio chunks on, the live session keeps taking them off. Events come back the other way — voice, captions, tool calls, interruptions.
