Agent, model, and MCP systems can change over time. Some of that drift is expected—for example, when a system is upgraded. Other changes may happen without an obvious explanation.

Security monitoring needs to account for known changes so they aren't mistaken for suspicious behavior. At the same time, normal variance needs a defined tolerance: too much unexplained drift can become a signal that something needs investigation.

The difficult part is establishing that boundary and continuously measuring against it.

How much drift should an organization tolerate before an agent's behavior becomes suspicious?
