Workplace monitoring software - what to do with it?

My colleague got a “new pc” from our ITs. Routine check of chrome’s extension list showed an “unknown” chrome extension, which turned out to be a logger (apparently writing all communication in gmail etc). It is bundled with some background service. Later we found the same software on other “new” PCs. Apparently company is implementing stealth monitoring and the question is what to do with it. I always remove any suspicious software. Would it be an issue to remove this software since we were not told about it? I’m not sure if a user can delete it, but I think formatting/reinstalling windows would do the trick. Is there a “better” approach, like running a defragmentation software or making a simple script to run 24/7 to make file access log and web access log irrelevant?

Of course we will have to comply with this monitoring policy once it’s publicly announced. Or I will have to find a new employer.

PS. I’m in a small localization company, we aren’t working for NASA etc.
