Hardening Linux?

I've read that the safest thing out there for security is a grsecurity hardened kernel. I believe this is by default available on Alpine linux.

However, I am a novice and I was wondering if there are any hardened kernels available for Ubuntu distros like Linux Mint or online tutorials to do it yourself.

Alternatively, I'm willing to switch to a pre-hardened distro, and learn from there.
