Novell iPrint Client up to 5.5 ActiveX Control ienipp.ocx GetFileList2 memory corruption

A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Novell iPrint Client up to 5.5 (Printing Software). This affects the function GetFileList2 in the library nipplib.dll of the file ienipp.ocx of the component ActiveX Control. Upgrading to version 5.06 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published even before and not after the disclosure of the vulnerability. Furthermore it is possible to detect and prevent this kind of attack with TippingPoint and the filter 6356.
