Samsung Isn't The Only One, Xiaomi Reportedly Also Dealing With Exploding Phones

Samsung's recall of the Galaxy Note 7 marked a major turning point for the South Korean company, as well as for the smartphone market. Reports of phones catching fire have shifted the market's attention to consumer safety.

It seems that Samsung isn't the only smartphone manufacturer that's been dealing with smartphones catching fire or downright exploding. DigiTimes reported that Xiaomi has commissioned a third-party organization to investigate two cases of explosions if its smartphones in China.

The cases occurred recently and involved a Xiaomi 6.44-inch Mi Max. The device apparently caused a fire in Xian on September 5, when the owner was charging the phone using the original charger. The incident actually brought damages to the owner's house.
