Hey guys, i'm having a big trouble with one of my laptops. It's a 7 years old (more or less) HP g62 notebook with AMD athlon II 2.2 ghz dual core and 4gb of RAM. I had to wipe off the HDD, so i decided to install Linux Mint. Here comes the problem: the fan goes batshit crazy, and after 10 mins the pc turns off automatically to protect itself from overheating damage...the thing is that the air coming out from the fan is just warm.
I've installed TLP, but it did nothing. The command "top" shows nothing of interesting... installed psensor, and it reports that the temp is just 45-50 degrees with a CPU usage of max 20%.
I then decided to switch to lubuntu (sudo app-get lubuntu-desktop) and it gets much much worse... the fan spins like no tomorrow...
YES, the fan and the heatsink are completely clear
What should i do?!? Is it a BIOS problem? Any idea?
