Hello fellow penguins,
I've been absent from running Linux on my desktop for about two years now and have been thinking about reinstalling. However, I have a little problem that I couldn't find a solution for. I am runnin a dual monitor setup with a 4k monitor as my main and a full HD monitor as my secondary. I use Gnome and need to scale up the UI on the 4k monitor to be able to read it. I have found out that Gnome only supports separate scaling of monitors when using Wayland.
Now here is the problem: I want to run 3D games on Linux and have an NVidia graphics card that doesn't support 3D accelleration when using Wayland. When using standard X, I cannot scale the monitors separately, so I would either have an almost unreadable UI on the 4k, or a humongous UI on the full HD.
Are there any other ways to accomplish both, separate UI scaling as well as 3D accelleration on my NVidia card? There might be a way with xrandr, but I haven't tried that, yet. I am also not sure if that scaling would work together with gaming. I am not exactly tied to Gnome. It is my favorite, but I'm also willing to try somethin else.
