US office supply retailer Office Depot has allegedly lied customers about the computers they brought in for repairs, recommending unnecessary fixes that eventually contributed to bigger sales.
CBS News reports that staff at the Office Depot told customers that their PCs were infected with malware and tried to push costly repairs in order to meet sales goals.
A company insider told the source that the executive team introduced sales goals that were very difficult to meet, so store staff turned to deceiving customers regarding system health in order to sell expensive services that were unnecessary.
