Most secure cell phone for the security professional / The Devil You Know

To be clear, I am from the Android clan. I don't want to start an OS debate, that is not the point of this post.

I need to upgrade my phone. Currently, I have a well known Android phone with the carrier whose logo resembles the Death Star. I've been stuck on a hopelessly old version of Android, with no possibility of advancing. Do any of the cell phone carriers even care? Needless to say I'm looking to change.

I find the Pixel 4 particularly appealing because the phone will always have the most (or near) current OS. One thing that Apple did right was to tie the OS to the hardware. That's where my appreciation with Apple ends. I know that Google/Alphabet will (at least for the short term) have some sort of telemetry from me, however I'm hoping to limit that as much as I can.

My questions are:

1) As a security professional, what smartphone do you currently use?

2) If you could purchase any cell phone on the market today, what would it be?
