📚 How do you get people to care?

Often when I'm talking with friends or family about security their eyes glaze over and they tune me out. I want to be able to relate with them without sounding like I wear a tin foil hat to bed. However, most people just don't seem to care or they can't relate to it. John Oliver in 2015 put the discussion of surveillance in terms of who can see your dick pic. Do you guys have methods to get people to care about making their passwords more secure or using 2FA for example?
