Don’t get me wrong I love Linux, but even in the current year there’s still absolutely immersion breaking problems with Linux DE’s. I personally use dwm so I have no complaints there but after trying out the popular flagship normie DE’s like gnome and kde plasma I witnessed that simple things break all the time.
Wanna change your desktop wallpaper? Too bad, all you did was turn on the computer and now the wallpaper selection window won’t recognize any image files to open. Wanna change your cursor? Too bad because whatever your new cursor is will only work on some parts of the environment. Wanna open a file manager? Well which one because the OS installed 3 different ones to confuse you.
It’s things like this that new Linux users are gonna notice right away because they live in the DE and these DE’s are honestly a joke. Sure things will happen but come on it’s the simple things.
