Greetings! As the title says, I'm thinking of installing Linux Mint as the main operating system on my sibling's 10 year old Dell Inspiron 3543 that runs windows 10. It's recently become really really slow, and it's become frankly unusable. I WOULD upgrade the HHD to an SSD if I was to do the switch to Linux, as I think the HHD has packed up.
The rest of the hardware I think is in good condition, but with the old HDD and windows 10 no longer being supported next year, I'm thinking I could give this machine a new lease on life with Linux Mint.
My question is, would it still run on such old hardware? Is it even worth going through the process? Or should I rather invest in a new machine? My sibling is not exactly tech savvy, and they would just want a simple graphical interface, to access the web and create documents for studying. I won't always be around to do troubleshooting due to working, so it will need to be easy enough for them to use.
All advice is welcomed! Thank you in advance :D
