The new Mac Mini running Linux a good idea? Or even possible?

I have watched a few tech dude channels review the new mac mini and it seems like a pretty cool little computer. I am wondering if it is possible to run linux on it and if that would have any advantages over Mac OS, such as proton and wine game compatibility and such. Just looking to see if anyone has tried linux on one of these yet or if it is possible. I have seen people breath new life into old Macbooks with linux so I am wondering if there would be advantages to using linux on a Mini.
