Choosing a VPS/VDS Server in 2024: My TOP-4 Picks

Recently, I’ve been getting a lot of questions about where to rent a virtual server (VPS/VDS) for various tasks. I was also on the hunt for affordable European servers for my Telegram bots and small projects, so I decided to share my experience. Instead of diving into the technical details of server configuration (let’s respect the law), I’ll focus on my testing of different hosting providers.

The market is flooded with virtual server options, but as a typical budget-conscious user (yes, I initially looked for the cheapest options), I settled on testing four providers for VPS rental in Europe: U1Host, Xorek.Cloud, HSHP.HOST, and SERV.HOST.

Affordable VPS Hosting: U1Host Review

Let’s start with the most budget-friendly option. Prices for virtual servers start at $1.19, which is a great deal for a European VPS. I tried their promo plan—1 GB of RAM and 10 GB of SSD storage. More than enough for a simple bot.

I was pleased to find that the bandwidth is truly unlimited—no hidden catches. Payments went smoothly, whether by card or crypto. If you need to test something quickly, you can even rent a server for a single day. Servers are based in Germany, so uptime is solid.

Cons:

• Customer support isn’t the fastest; sometimes, you wait several hours for a response.

Still, for its price, U1Host is an excellent choice.

SERV.HOST: VDS Hosting with Multiple Locations

This was the most expensive option, starting at $2.85. However, it offers a wide range of server locations: Germany, Russia, the Netherlands, the UK, and France. The 250 Mbps bandwidth is more than enough for most tasks.

Customer support is quick and efficient, and the servers are reliable. However, navigating their website is a challenge—it feels like a quest to find the information you need. Also, their pricing is higher than the market average, though the range of locations justifies the cost.

VPS Hosting Testing Results

I ultimately settled on two options: U1Host and HSHP.HOST. I use U1Host for simple bots and HSHP.HOST for more demanding tasks. U1Host won me over with its pricing, while HSHP.HOST impressed me with its ease of use.

Of course, this is just my personal experience with virtual servers. I’m sure there are other good options, but these are the ones I tested myself.
