Advice on how to switch Linux Distros without losing data

I have a computer that dual boots between Windows 11 and Manjaro Linux (XFCE Edition). I have mostly liked Manjaro, except for the fact that I can't get it to support my laptop's fingerprint reader - even after downloading packages from the Arch User Repository that were supposed to enable my fingerprint reader to work with my distro*. I would be okay sticking with Manjaro, but now that Manjaro has announced that it will incorporate opt-out telemetry into Manjaro and will deliberately make opting out difficult, I'd rather switch to a Linux distro that isn't pulling this nonsense.

How can switch to a different Linux distro without losing my data? I know that it's best practice to back up data before attempting to make any major changes to the operating system, but I'd like to have the switch go as smoothly as possible.

Here is how I set up the partition that hosts Manjaro and its files:

/dev/nvme0n1p3 is the EFI system

/dev/nvme0n1p4 is the swap partition (Is it even useful to have swap partitions any more?)

/dev/nvme0n1p5 is where Linux programs get installed

/dev/nvme0n1p6 is where user files and downloads for Linux get saved

* My laptop is a Lenovo ThinkPad T480.
