when i click a button on an application what things happen behind the scenes??

This is somewhat a theory question i want to know what happens when i click a button on website

something of the sorts like the opengl library(used in firefox) sends a message to the firefox program maybe, java script event handler runs then the v8 engine running javascript runs the c program corresponding to the particular instructions and stuff runs

i don't know basically i want every thing every detail to the kernel level in fact i would like to go further and know what happens inside it

if there's anything previously documented for this please do link it i would love to read something that shows what happens behind the scenes
