Using Linux to act as a mac with an ipad

I want to first begin with that this is something that I had seen in a YouTube video or possibly an Insta reel, but I remember that there was an app or something that was supported on all platforms, and I figured that I didn’t just want to continue using Windows on the laptop I have, so I figured I might as well have a laptop that has Linux. However, I don’t know what distro to use that would be good for an old laptop. As for an app that does what I talked about in the first half of this paragraph, I want an app that could function similarly to how a Mac and iPad can communicate with each other or an app similar to “Duet Display” on the App Store. Just to add a quick update I’m currently thinking about getting “zorin os” for my laptop would that achieve what I’m planning for or what other ways could I make it better?
