Need help with rEFInd theming – not working despite trying multiple themes

I've been trying to get a custom rEFInd theme working, but no luck so far. I've tried several themes (Nord, etc.) and followed the install instructions, but the boot menu still shows the default rEFInd look.

My setup:

· EFI partition is at /boot/efi · rEFInd installed at /boot/efi/EFI/refind/ · Themes placed in /boot/efi/EFI/refind/themes/ · Config includes include themes/nord/theme.conf (tried relative and absolute paths) · Theme files exist and permissions look correct

I've also tried:

· Disabling other themes · Using absolute paths in theme.conf · Logging out/in, rebooting multiple times

Any idea what I might be missing? Is there a way to debug rEFInd to see why it's ignoring the theme?
