Apple Expands American Manufacturing Program With New U.S. Partners

Apple has expanded its American Manufacturing Program by adding four new partners and increasing its investment in U.S. production. The company aims to strengthen domestic manufacturing and reduce reliance on overseas supply chains.



Apple announced that Bosch, Cirrus Logic, TDK, and Qnity Electronics have joined its American Manufacturing Program. The company plans to spend $400 million with these partners through 2030 to support local production of key components.




Apple stated that the investment will: “manufacture essential materials and components in the U.S. for Apple products sold around the world, creating jobs and strengthening America’s manufacturing capabilities.”




This effort forms part of Apple’s broader $600 billion commitment to U.S. manufacturing and innovation over four years.



Apple shared details about how each partner contributes to its manufacturing goals.



TDK will supply TMR sensors from its U.S. facility and increase chip production within domestic supply chains. Apple will also work with Bosch and TSMC to produce integrated circuits for sensing hardware at TSMC’s Washington facility.



Apple is partnering with Cirrus Logic and GlobalFoundries to develop new semiconductor technologies at GlobalFoundries’ New York plant. At the same time, Qnity Electronics and HD MicroSystems will provide advanced materials for semiconductor manufacturing.



Apple plans to start producing part of its Mac mini lineup in the United States later this year. This move adds to existing Mac Pro production in the country.



The company also sources cover glass for iPhone and Apple Watch from U.S. suppliers. These steps show Apple’s ongoing focus on building a stronger manufacturing base within the United States.
