The new Spotify AI remix tool will launch as a paid add-on for Premium users and focus on officially licensed fan-made content instead of unofficial uploads that often face copyright problems across streaming platforms. Spotify described the feature as part of a “creation model” that gives artists, songwriters, and fans a more direct connection while also opening new discovery opportunities inside the app. The company also said artists will “directly share in the value generated” through these AI-powered creations.
Spotify Co-CEO Alex Norström explained the company’s direction in an official statement:
“Solving hard problems for music is what Spotify does, and fan-made covers and remixes are next. What we’re building is grounded in consent, credit, and compensation for the artists and songwriters that take part.”
Universal Music Group CEO Sir Lucian Grainge also described the project as an “artist-centric” initiative built around “responsible AI.”
Spotify also announced another Premium-focused feature called Reserved, which temporarily holds concert tickets for eligible users in the United States based on listening history. Spotify says the feature targets dedicated fans instead of casual buyers and ticket scalpers, though the company has not fully explained how ticket eligibility will work in practice.
The announcements arrived as part of Spotify’s Investor Day 2026 updates, which also included upcoming podcast and audiobook improvements.
