Ransomware attacks are on the rise globally, posing particular threats to critical infrastructure sectors that feel pressure to pay ransoms to restore essential services. In this presentation, Microsoft shares recent case studies on how industry is working with law enforcement and government partners to dismantle the growing ransomware-as-a-service economy. The presentation also highlights how geopolitical factors are driving the proliferation of ransomware, as adversary states increasingly provide safe havens for cybercriminal groups that target victims abroad and in support of foreign policy objectives.
