Microsoft Intelligent Terminal is a fork of the open-source Windows Terminal, purpose-built to deliver AI-powered command-line assistance. Installing Intelligent Terminal is a manual process, not part of Windows Update or the Microsoft Store. Here’s the fastest path, excerpted from the Windows Central review:



Step 1: Verify system requirements




  • You must be running Windows 11 (exact build version not specified in review, but safest to use a fully updated install).

  • Ensure you have administrator privileges — required for shell integrations.



Step 2: Download using winget

Use the official installer via the Windows Package Manager:

  • No integration with default Windows Terminal:


    They are separate. Extensions, settings, and workflows are not automatically synced.
