Apple Changes The Payment Checkout Screen In The New iOS 27 Update

Apple recently revealed iOS 27, and it brings a very helpful change to the way we handle mobile payments on websites and inside apps. The company entirely redesigned the checkout screen for its digital wallet. This update solves an old issue that often caused people to tap the wrong area when trying to pay. The new setup built by Apple is clearer and much easier to navigate on a small screen.



Swiping directly on a card now opens a full grid



In older software versions, the checkout flow was not very intuitive. If you wanted to switch to a different credit card, your instinct was probably to tap the card shown on the screen. Doing that took you to an address editing menu instead. You had to find a specific button at the bottom of the screen just to change your payment method.



The new design changes this behavior completely. Now, you can just swipe sideways on the main screen to flip through your available cards. If you tap the card directly, it opens a grid layout showing all your options in one single view.



This update also brings more details right to the front. When you use Apple Pay, the system will display helpful card information directly on the payment sheet. You will see things like reward points, current balances, and pay later options before you confirm a purchase. Developers can still choose what specific details show up based on what their app needs to process the order.



These layout adjustments remove unnecessary steps from the checkout process, similar to the convenience of the digital transit features available for commuters.
