Plex Launches $249.99 Five-Year Pass After Raising Lifetime Plan to $749.99

Plex has introduced a new five-year Plex Pass after raising the Lifetime Plex Pass price from $249.99 to $749.99, giving users another long-term option without forcing them into the much higher lifetime plan.



The new five-year plan costs $249.99, which matches the old Lifetime Plex Pass price before the July 1 increase. It now sits alongside Plex’s monthly and annual subscriptions, giving users a way to lock in access for a longer period without paying every month or every year.

The five-year plan gives better value than paying annually because users pay the price of around three and a half annual subscriptions for five years of access. It also costs less than paying monthly over the same period, which makes it a practical choice for regular Plex users.



However, the plan still has an end date, unlike the old Lifetime Plex Pass. Once the five-year term ends, users will need to renew, switch to another plan, or stop paying for Plex Pass features.



Plex has said recurring subscriptions help support long-term software development, while lifetime plans become less useful for the company over time. The higher lifetime price reflects that shift, and the five-year plan now gives users a middle option.



Still, this price change also gives users a reason to compare alternatives. Jellyfin remains a free option for personal media streaming, although it usually takes more setup than Plex.
