More AI Bugs, Less Security?

AI is exceptionally good at identifying code patterns that lead to crashes and other common programming mistakes. That capability can dramatically increase the number of reported bugs.



Finding more bugs doesn't necessarily reduce real-world cyber risk. If the proportion of high-impact, exploitable vulnerabilities stays the same, security teams may spend increasing amounts of time triaging and fixing low-value findings simply because they now exist in the backlog. More detection can create more work without delivering proportional security gains.



Should AI-powered security tools be judged by how many bugs they find—or by how many meaningful attacks they actually help prevent?
