Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports that Apple has tested a refreshed MacBook Neo with the A19 Pro chip and increased memory. The current model uses the A18 Pro chip with 8GB of RAM, while the upcoming version is expected to offer 12GB of RAM.
The planned upgrades include:
A19 Pro chip: The newer processor should deliver better speed and efficiency than the A18 Pro used in the current MacBook Neo.
12GB of RAM: The extra memory should help users run more apps at the same time and handle heavier browser, productivity, and AI-based tasks.
New color options: Apple also plans to refresh the laptop with additional finishes beyond Silver, Blush, Citrus, and Indigo.
Apple has not confirmed a launch date, although the first half of next year appears likely because the original MacBook Neo arrived in March. The company plans to update the laptop regularly while keeping it positioned as the most affordable Mac in its lineup.
The MacBook Neo now starts at $699 in the United States after Apple raised the price from $599 last month. Eligible students can still buy it for $599 through Apple’s education store, while certified refurbished models also remain available at lower prices.
Apple is preparing 11 new Mac models across its laptop and desktop ranges, with the updated MacBook Neo forming part of that broader product plan.
