Chrome Now Supports Netflix Streaming in 4K on Windows 11

Google Chrome has started supporting Netflix playback in 4K Ultra HD on compatible Windows 11 computers, giving users another way to stream at the platform’s highest resolution.

Netflix previously limited Chrome playback on Windows to lower resolutions, while users generally relied on Microsoft Edge or the Windows app for 4K streaming. Its updated system requirements now list Chrome 117 or later as supporting up to Ultra HD 2160p on Windows.



However, installing the latest Chrome version does not guarantee 4K playback. Users need Windows 11 with current updates, a Netflix plan that includes Ultra HD and a steady internet connection of at least 15 Mbps.



The computer must also have compatible graphics hardware, such as an Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 or newer, an AMD Radeon RX 400 series or newer, or a supported Intel or AMD processor. Some systems also require the HEVC video extension.



Display requirements still apply



Netflix requires a 4K display running at 60Hz. External screens must use an HDCP 2.2-compatible connection, and every active connected display must meet the same requirements.



Users should also set Netflix playback quality to Auto or High and choose a title carrying the 4K label. Chrome on macOS remains limited to 1080p, while Safari supports 4K on compatible Macs.
