Tecno changed how it builds phones to erase the borders
To make this zero millimeter border a reality, Tecno had to completely rethink how it puts a smartphone together. The company used new methods for internal stacking and structural engineering to fit everything inside. It also created a brand new screen packaging technique to pull the display all the way to the edges of the frame.
Because the screen has no visible borders, it looks like it is floating right in the palm of your hand. This design lets Tecno fit a slightly bigger display into a normal-sized phone body. Users get a larger and cleaner viewing space for watching videos or playing games without the phone itself getting any bigger. This is a design goal that the iPhone has been trying to move toward with each new release.
The new screen design will go on display this September
While pictures and videos can make it hard to spot the difference, Tecno shared a photo comparing its new concept next to a device that resembles a current iPhone 17 Pro model. Apple is rumored to offer a similar design with the future iPhone 20. The missing borders on the Tecno phone stand out clearly when put side by side with the other device.
Tecno says this borderless display will help its brand stand out from the competition. It also optimized other features for this concept, including the cameras, touch controls, and user interface. The company will officially present this device to the public at the IFA 2026 ShowStoppers event this September.
Until then, fans of mobile tech will have to wait and see if this concept turns into a product you can actually buy in stores.
