Google Health can now sync Fitbit data with Apple Health

Google Health can now send Fitbit data directly to Apple Health, giving iPhone users a simpler way to keep their health information in one place. The latest iOS update adds two-way syncing after the app initially supported only importing data from Apple Health.



Version 5.05 allows Google Health to share exercise records, sleep data, vital signs, step counts, and other Fitbit information with Apple Health. Users can choose which categories they want to share, while Apple Health permissions control how other compatible apps can access that data.



Fitbit data now works across more iPhone apps



This update removes a long-standing limitation for Fitbit users who also rely on Apple Health. Until now, they generally needed a third-party syncing app or another indirect method to move Fitbit information into Apple’s Health app.



The change also means Fitbit data can appear inside other HealthKit-compatible apps, depending on the permissions selected by the user. This gives people more control over where they view and manage their fitness and health records.



Google Health version 5.05 also introduces Smart Health Links, which let users share medical records with a healthcare provider or family member.



The updated Google Health app is now available for iPhone through the App Store.
