This talk is a frank look at why Europe's most-used clinical tool isn't a clinical tool.
The answer cuts across the entire care continuum: from large hospital trusts wrestling with security friction to mobile nurses no IT policy ever quite reaches. GDPR enforcement is tightening. Amira is a home care nurse. Her "ward" is eleven living rooms and a car. Nobody from IT has ever been in any of them. Mateo is a hospital nurse on night shift — issued a phone, a pager, and a login that expires every 8 hours. Dr. Chen is a doctor. Always reachable, never has time.
Three people, three employers, three different IT policies. Same behaviour: they all use WhatsApp. Not because they don't know better. Because the secure alternative is slower, harder, and breaks the workflow that actually keeps patients safe.
This talk walks through the data. What the research says about clinician use of consumer messaging apps. What regulators have actually done about it (€1.2B in GDPR fines last year, healthcare enforcement up 26%).
